Abstract: In the new global economy, the development of traditional ceramics industries has become a central issue for individual ceramicists and craft enterprises alike. In Oman, over the past decade the Public Authority for Crafts Industries (PACI) has played a strong role in supporting the traditional ceramics industry. However, recently, competition from imported pottery and the negative impacts on local markets has become a pressing issue. The purpose of this paper is to address the ways in which individual Omani ceramicists and traditional pottery enterprises can successfully compete against imported ceramics.

Abstract: The aim of this research was to compare the profiles of anxiety about aging in Mexican university students to aging. The total sample was of 1669 subjects; 851 women and 818 men with a mean age of 20.53 years (SD = 2.82) and 20.89 years (SD = 2.03) respectively. The approach adopted in the research is framed within a quantitative approach with a descriptive survey design. The results of the multivariate analysis of variance followed by analyzes of univariate variance, are the ones who show higher levels of anxiety to the fear of loss of social support and autonomy, while men manifest higher levels of anxiety as to contact with the elderly. The differences between men and women regarding anxiety about aging, suggest that in designing any intervention that aims to reduce this anxiety must be taken into account gender variable. Future research should replicate these findings in larger samples.

Abstract: Mongolian medicine is one of the basic disciplines of Mongolian Studies. Mongolian medicine plays an important role in prevention and treatment of diseases in northern ethnic minorities, particularly the Mongol nationality. As an important research field of Mongolian Studies and an important part of the traditional Mongolian culture, Mongolian medicine has its own unique position. Nowadays, Mongolian medicine is the mainstream medicine in the minority areas due to its uniqueness and practicability and its inheritance depending on scientificity during development and improvement of the medicine. In addition, it stands out from various types of medicine in the minority areas and is generally accepted by the public. Thus, it is arousing attention from the domestic and overseas medical circles and the relevant professionals. The long history of Mongolian medicine is highlighting the important of the logical thinking method. The Mongolian medicine makes great contribution to medicine. The thinking mode and reasoning method of Mongolian medicine play a notably important role in diagnosis and treatment of various diseases. The paper aims to explore the thinking and reasoning connotations of Mongolian medicine. The paper preliminarily investigates the significance of logic in Mongolian medicine, the theoretical system and logic thinking in Mongolian medicine, dynamic treatment and comprehensive reasoning in Mongolian medicine.

The Potential Contribution of Ethiopian Diaspora in Development: The Presenting Absent Partners

Abstract: This day, it seems that there is a general consensus among scholars and policy makers that Diaspora could play paramount roles in enhancing development processes to alleviate poverty in developing countries like Ethiopia. This study aimed to elicit the potential roles of Ethiopian diaspora in promoting the country’s development. Eventhough numerous scholarly works exist on Diaspora related issue, there were no literatures concerning the potential roles of Ethiopian diaspora in accelerating the country’s development efforts. This paper attempts to highlight: (i) the potential roles of Ethiopian Diaspora in the promotion of the country’s development (ii) important initiatives taken by the government to draw the Diaspora to participate in enhancing the development endeavors of the nation and (iii) the factors hindering the diaspora not to participate in the country’s development. The study uses different government proclamations/official documents/, other literatures and personal reflections to examine the potential roles of Ethiopian diaspora in enhancing country’s development. Overall, despite the fact that the government has made some initiatives and/or efforts to attract the diaspora to the country, there are factors which obstruct their return to the country such as lack of political and economic environments like execution capacity, inefficient government bureaucracy, weak institutions and corruption, lack of good governance at the grass root level and strong political commitment to democratize the state on behalf of the government. More than any other issue, building a democratic political culture at home is an important prerequisite for the return of Diaspora. In this regard, Ethiopia needs to create an enabling environment and establish strategic collaborations and partnerships with all its Diasporas.

Abstract: This study aimed to find out the factors affecting older adults’ quality of life in Tehran. The present study was included 380 respondents aged 60 and over. Standard quality of life questionnaire (WHOQOL – BREF) was used to collect the data. Correlation Coefficient Pearson, T-test, ANOVA and Spearman were used to assess the association between quality of life and its effective factors. Findings showed that high quality of life was associated with education, marital status, diseases, disabilities and housing however, there was not any association between age, gender and employment status with quality of life. The results of this study showed the effective factors on quality of life among elderly people in Tehran. Furthermore the findings propose to focus on social welfare policy through design proper instructional guidelines on quality of life in the elderly population, but further researches need to be conducted in this field.

Abstract: Ghana launched the Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) initiative in the year 2000 in furtherance of the ideals of primary health care. The CHPS strategy was adopted by the MOH as a national programme to bridge the gap in access to healthcare. It provides for a Community Health Officer (CHO) to be resident in a community and with the help and support of the community members, to render some basic packages of PHC especially preventive services including home visiting, educational programmes and other health promotion activities and not sedentary clinical services at the health facility. With the introduction of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), which is a form of Health care financing in order to serve as a conduit for providing financial access to health care. This has perceptively resulted in an increase in out-patient attendance at all facilities especially CHPS facilities. This tended to constrain the CHOs from embarking on their mandated task of home visitation, educational programmes and other health promotion packages. It is against this background that this research work has been carried out to ascertain why the focus of CHPS is shifting from a preventive to a curative approach. The methodology adopted was a case study using a before and after approach to make comparison of the preventive health care activities of the CHO before and after the introduction of NHIS as well as access of people to the Vieri CHPS compound. Simple random sampling was used to select 165 households who were interviewed. We purposively sampled CHOs, the Community Health Management Committee (CHMC) and Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) who have in-depth knowledge on the operations of the CHPs. The study revealed that the frequency of household visitation and the educational programmes organized by the CHOs have declined. This is due to the net effect of NHIS on the facility and the CHOs due to increased attendance at the facility. This did not only negatively affect the activities that the CHOs are supposed to carrying out but also on the health infrastructure. The study also revealed various challenges faced by CHMCs and CHVs.

Abstract: The association with different nation and countries being existed since ancient time, the development of globalization, digitization and informatization opens Pandora's box for present countries, which also helps countries cast off the traditional and parochial culture prospective and recognizes itself and relations with the whole world. The problem of self-identify has been discussed in western since the 1950s, after the Second World War; The end of the 1990s, since the book Modernity and Self-identity which written by the well-known modern British sociologist Giddens spread in China, some scholars began to pay attention to self-identify in global context. Those problems are related in the concept and structure of culture when in multi-culture and coexistence context, and western historical center concept in the world pattern, Chinese cultural reality and culture psychology, and all of these are helpful to seek the precious cultural self-identify resources. To solve the identity crisis that China faces today, people need to construct the new self-identity with Chinese characteristics, Chinese style, Chinese manner and Chinese energy. Concretely speaking, the reconstruction and moulding of self-identity, the construction of Culturology based on the paradigm of dialogue in globalization context, cultivating critical thinking are three aspects, besides, maintaining the foundation of cultural existence in a nation is the fundamental way that improve the development of a country’s culture.
